Two Indian students lost their lives in a tragic car accident in Ireland on January 31, 2025. Driver Bhargav Chitturi (23) and rear passenger Suresh Cherukuri (24) were killed when their vehicle crashed into a tree on the N80 at Graiguenaspiddoge, in Leagh, Rathoe, at around 1.15 am, according to Irish police, reported gujaratsamachar.com.

The accident occurred at a notorious crash site known as ‘Leagh Bends’

Two other passengers, a male and female in their 20s, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to St. Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny, as per authorities.

All four individuals in the car were Indian nationals residing in Carlow town

Three of the victims were studying pharmaceutical sciences at SouthEast Technological University (SETU) in Carlow, while one had recently started working for an American multinational pharmaceutical company in the area.

Local reports highlighted that this crash happened at the same location where three young individuals lost their lives exactly a year ago.

The Embassy of India in Dublin expressed condolences on social media, stating, “Embassy of India in Dublin conveys its deepest condolences on the sad demise of two Indian nationals, Mr. Cherekuri Suresh Chowdary and Mr. Chithoori Bhargav, in a car accident in Carlow.”

The embassy further assured that they are in contact with the families and friends of the deceased while providing all possible support to the injured individuals.
