India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have taken fresh steps to strengthen their strategic partnership, announcing new agreements across defence, space, energy and emerging technologies. The moves underline the growing importance of ties between the two countries, which sit along a key global trade corridor linking Asia and Europe.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held high-level talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi during a working visit. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in areas that are critical to long-term growth and security for both nations.

One of the key outcomes of the visit was a letter of intent on a Strategic Defence Partnership. This is expected to deepen collaboration in defence manufacturing, training and technology sharing, reflecting a shared interest in regional stability and security

Space cooperation also featured prominently. A separate letter of intent was exchanged between the UAE Space Agency and India’s National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre. The agreement aims to support joint initiatives that encourage space industry development, innovation and commercial collaboration, opening new opportunities for private companies and start-ups in both countries.

Energy and food security were also high on the agenda. The two sides discussed ways to ensure reliable energy supplies and strengthen cooperation in renewable energy, while also working together to address food security challenges through technology and sustainable practices.

In addition, leaders highlighted the role of advanced technology and artificial intelligence in shaping future cooperation. By combining India’s large talent base with the UAE’s investment strength and innovation drive, both countries see scope for faster progress in digital and high-tech sectors.
