 Financial Aid Commitments

Kerala’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, announced significant donations from leading Indian expatriates. Yusuffali MA of Lulu Group International, Dr. Ravi Pillai of RP Group, and TS Kalyanaraman of Kalyan Jewellers have each pledged Rs 5 crore (approximately Dh2.2 million) to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

The Malabar Group was one of the first to respond, pledging Rs 3 crore (around Dh1.32 million) for immediate relief. Their relief package includes essential provisions like food, medicines, and clothing, alongside financial assistance for rebuilding homes. Previously, Malabar Group had built homes for families affected by the 2019 Puthumala disaster in Wayanad.

Rescue and Medical Assistance

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil of VPS Healthcare has offered immediate assistance through the services of the Group’s subsidiaries. Prometheus Medical International’s Mountain Rescue Team and Response Plus Medical’s Paramedic team are ready to provide extraction support and medical treatment.

These contributions highlight the strong ties and solidarity between the UAE and the Indian community in times of crisis

Aster DM Healthcare, led by Dr. Azad Moopen, has committed Rs 4 crore for relief efforts, including Rs 1.5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs 2.5 crore for rebuilding homes. Dr. Moopen’s Medical College in Wayanad is actively providing treatment and inpatient care in collaboration with government hospitals and public health centers. Aster Volunteers have mobilized a team and a mobile medical unit to support the National Disaster Response Force.

UAE’s Condolences and Support

The UAE, home to approximately one million Keralites, has expressed its solidarity with India. UAE leaders, including President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, have conveyed their condolences and support to India’s President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended its sympathy to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
