Dr Bindu was on a short visit to India ahead of her housewarming ceremony
In a heartbreaking incident, Dr Bindu Philip, a well-known UAE-based Indian gynaecologist, lost her life in a car accident in Kerala while traveling home from Thiruvananthapuram Airport on Monday morning, March 24, reported siasat.com.
Prominent Gynaecologist Tragically Passes Away
Dr Bindu, 48, worked at NMC Medical Centre in Buhairah Corniche, Sharjah, and had returned to India for her housewarming ceremony. The fatal accident took place at 5:30 am on MC Road in Kottarakkara, Valakom, Kampamcodu.
- As per reports, driver Biju George fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to lose control, hit a road divider, and overturn
- Both Dr Bindu and George were rescued and rushed to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, but she succumbed to her injuries
A Respected Medical Professional
Dr Bindu earned her medical degree from Dr S N Medical College, Jodhpur, and completed her post-graduation at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in 2012.
She started her career at a maternity and infertility hospital in Kerala, later becoming Associate Professor at Mount Zion Medical College. Before moving to Sharjah, she also worked in Dubai, managing normal and caesarean deliveries.
A member of the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in India (FOGSI) and registered with the Travancore Medical Council, she specialized in high-risk pregnancies, infertility treatment, and cervical cancer screenings.
Dr Bindu, who lost her husband two years ago, is survived by her two children, Anjalana and Venus.
