In a year characterized by the resumption of global travel, Indian tourists exhibited a renewed eagerness to explore international destinations, says a report from VisaGuide.World.

The United Arab Emirates stood out as the premier choice, attracting a staggering 5.89 million visitors, according to data from Booking.com and Statista.

The Middle East retained its popularity among Indian tourists, with Saudi Arabia securing the second position by hosting around 2.42 million visitors. The allure of the United States, with its blend of cultural richness and modern marvels, continued to captivate Indian travelers, making it the third most visited destination with 1.68 million visitors.

Diverse travel preferences were evident in the rankings, with Singapore and Thailand claiming the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, hosting close to a million Indian tourists each. European charm drew Indian travelers to the United Kingdom, which ranked sixth, attracting 0.92 million visitors.

Educational Ties and Study Visas:

The United Kingdom’s appeal is further enhanced by its status as a hub for Indian international students, leading in study visa approvals. In the 2022/2023 academic year, Indian students secured over a quarter of study visas, totaling 133,237—an impressive five percent increase from the previous year.

Emerging Destinations:

Qatar and Kuwait emerged as sought-after destinations, each hosting 0.88 million and 0.83 million Indian tourists, respectively. These destinations, with their unique blend of tradition and modernity, have increasingly captured the interest of Indian globetrotters.

Foreign Tourist Arrivals to India:

On the flip side, the Bureau of Immigration in India disclosed that the United States topped the list as the main country of origin for foreign tourist arrivals in 2022, recording 13.7 million arrivals. Bangladesh and the United Kingdom followed closely with 12.5 million and 6.1 million visitors, respectively.
