Indian passport holders with valid visas from additional nations can now obtain a UAE visa upon arrival
Indian nationals residing in more countries can now benefit from the UAE’s expanded visa-on-arrival scheme, which came into effect on February 13, 2025. The policy allows Indian passport holders with valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards from six additional countries—Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea—to obtain a visa upon arrival in the UAE, according to Emirates News Agency (WAM) , reported business-standard.com.
The move aims to enhance travel flexibility and strengthen ties between India and the UAE
The expansion builds upon a 2024 policy that granted visa-on-arrival access to Indian nationals holding:
- A valid visit visa from the US
- A valid residence visa from the UK
- A valid residence visa from the EU
- A visa or Green Card with a validity of at least six months from the date of arrival into the UAE
Visa eligibility, fees, and additional benefits for Indian travelers.
Indian passport holders eligible for this scheme must meet the following criteria:
-
Their passport must be valid for at least six months
-
They must hold a valid visa, residence permit, or Green Card from one of the approved countries
-
They must pay the applicable visa fee as per UAE regulations
The visa fees include:
- 14-day entry visa: Dh100 (Rs 2,400), extendable for another 14 days at Dh250 (Rs 5,900)
- 60-day visa: Dh250 (Rs 5,900)
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), emphasized that this policy reflects the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with India. The initiative is expected to facilitate smoother travel for Indian nationals, while also attracting professionals, entrepreneurs, and tourists.
Additionally, India has signed visa exemption agreements with several countries, including the UAE, for holders of diplomatic and official passports, allowing stays of up to 90 days without a visa.
India continues to be a significant tourism market for Dubai. In 2023, Indian tourist arrivals surged by 25% compared to pre-pandemic levels, with 2.46 million overnight stays, reaffirming India’s status as Dubai’s top tourism source.
