A senior Emirati minister has urged Indian entrepreneurs to view the UAE as a gateway to global opportunities, recognizing the crucial role Indian businesses have played in the country’s rise. Speaking at the Indiaspora Forum for Good in Abu Dhabi, Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, emphasized the enduring partnership between India and the UAE, reported thenationalnews.com.

Indian businesses are key to UAE’s economic growth and future global ambitions.

Dr Al Zeyoudi addressed hundreds of Indian business leaders, academics, and startup founders, stressing that the UAE continues to benefit from the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit of the Indian diaspora. He highlighted the significant contributions of more than 4 million Indians living in the UAE, many of whom have built successful businesses across various sectors.

Indian Entrepreneurs Driving Success in the UAE

The minister praised Indian business leaders for their role in shaping the UAE’s economic landscape. He noted that many of the 6,700 millionaires who moved to the UAE last year were of Indian origin, leaving a profound impact on the nation’s growth.

“Indian-owned enterprises view the UAE not just as a hub but as a gateway to new opportunities worldwide,” Dr Al Zeyoudi said, encouraging further collaboration between the two nations.

India-UAE Trade Ties at an All-Time High

The UAE signed its first Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with India in 2022, propelling bilateral trade beyond $85 billion. India is now the UAE’s largest trading partner, while the UAE is India’s third-largest.

Dr Al Zeyoudi highlighted the speed and significance of the agreement, which was finalized in just 88 days. Both countries are also partners in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, a project aimed at strengthening supply chains through a ship-rail network.

India’s Global Leadership and Commitment to Peace

Former Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh ngla spoke at the forum, emphasizing India’s growing role in global diplomacy. He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to peace and India’s balanced approach to global affairs.

India’s leadership during the G20 presidency in 2023, which included inviting the UAE as a special guest and granting permanent membership to the African Union, reflects its proactive foreign policy and commitment to a more balanced world order.

The Indian Diaspora as a Force for Good

The Indiaspora organization, founded 13 years ago, connects global leaders of Indian origin to drive positive change. Its executive director, Sanjeev Joshipura, reinforced the belief that entrepreneurship is a powerful force for good, fostering collaboration and creating opportunities for global impact.
