In a major policy shift for migrants in the United Kingdom, the country will start to issue visas on America’s lines.
It is, however, not clear how the new system will affect the status of Indians living in the country.
It has been done to get the correct number of migrants working or living in the country.
The UK’s Home Minister Priti Patel has started working on it, as a source in the government said, “Everything on the border will be controlled through a digital medium.”
Under the system, the UK government hopes to digitalise filly the country’s migrant platforms by 2025. Only Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) would be entertained for applications for UK visa.
With this, the UK government hopes to get correct data on people living in the country. Also, those countrymen residing outside the country will be available under the system.
Only time will tell how the new system will affect the status of Indians living in the United Kingdom.
