A global breakthrough for farmers: First-ever direct export of 1,200 kg Dussehri mangoes from Lucknow to Dubai opens new doors for Uttar Pradesh’s mango growers
In a major milestone for Uttar Pradesh’s agricultural exports, the state has dispatched its first-ever direct consignment of Dussehri mangoes to Dubai. Weighing 1,200 kg across 400 neatly packed boxes, the premium mangoes were airlifted from Lucknow’s Mango Pack House to Dubai-based importer Vergro Trading LLC, with the total value of the consignment pegged at USD 2,992, reported ndtv.com.
The consignment was flagged off by Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, and Agricultural Foreign Trade, who praised the efforts of farmers and emphasized the government’s commitment to elevating local produce to international markets.
Farmers in UP secure global foothold as Dussehri mangoes reach Dubai in historic first shipment, backed by state support and Indo-German initiative.
Under the Indo-German Agricultural Market Development (AMD) Project, three Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) from the Lucknow region were trained in global export standards. Two of these — Irada Farmers Producer Company Limited and Malihabad Farmer Producer Company Limited — have now secured and executed direct orders from Dubai.
This shipment marks the first time these FPOs have independently exported mangoes, underscoring a transformative step for the mango-growing community in UP.
“Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, mango exports from Uttar Pradesh are steadily rising,” said Singh. “Our goal is to help mango farmers from the state establish a strong presence in the global market. The government is extending all necessary support in terms of production, packaging, and meeting international export standards.”
The move signals a growing recognition of UP’s agricultural strengths and its potential to become a global fruit export hub — especially for its world-renowned Dussehri mangoes.
