Dubai Tops the List as Favorite Destination for Indian Travelers
Wego, the leading travel app and largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has reported a significant 15.10% increase in flight searches for New Year travel between 27 and 31 December 2024 compared to the same period last year. This data highlights the strong demand for international and domestic travel among Indian travelers, reported economictimes.indiatimes.com.
Dubai Leads the Pack
Dubai remains the top destination for Indian travelers, thanks to its extravagant New Year celebrations and a large Indian expatriate community. Other GCC cities such as Kuwait, Riyadh, Doha, and Muscat are also popular, with Riyadh showing a notable 20.61% increase in searches due to the Riyadh Season festival, which runs until March 2025 and offers a wide range of family-friendly events and activities.
Tropical Getaways and Domestic Favorites
Tropical destinations like Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Bali, and Singapore continue to attract Indian tourists seeking warm escapes filled with adventure and festivity. On the domestic front, Goa, New Delhi, and Mumbai top the charts for New Year celebrations. These cities offer a vibrant mix of nightlife, cultural experiences, and year-end events, making them ideal choices for short and extended holidays.
Evolving Travel Preferences
“Indian travelers have always shown a keen interest in diverse destinations, whether for family-friendly experiences or tropical getaways,” said a Wego spokesperson. “With the New Year approaching, these trends highlight the evolving preferences of Indian travelers, who are seeking memorable celebrations both near and far.”
