“We have such a strong relationship, person-to-person, community-to-community leader, based on the strength of the Indian diaspora.”
— Neera Tanden
People of Indian origin are proving their mettle all over the world. America has also now become infatuated with Indian-American citizens. The statement issued by Neera Tanden, a top White House official, has made people of Indian origin proud.
“We have such a strong relationship, person-to-person, community-to-community leader, based on the strength of the Indian diaspora,” Neera Tanden, director of the United States Domestic Policy Council, said at an event on September 30.
US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy said that the friendship between India and the United States is one of the defining friendships and partnerships of the 21st century
She said, “When I first came to Washington, there were only a few people in the Clinton administration who were Indian-Americans. Today Indian Americans are throughout the administration. When we are talking about AI issues, the Office of Science and Technology Policy is run by Aarti Prabhakar (an Indian-American).”
She also said, “When you hear the words of the President (Joe Biden) in his wonderful speech on democracy two days ago, those words are written by Vinay Reddy. In fact, you can’t throw a stone at the White House these days and not kill one of the Indian-Americans.” Tandon said this amid applause from hundreds of Indian-Americans gathered at India House, the official residence of the Indian Ambassador to USA in Washington D.C.
