India and Laos share strong historical and cultural ties, with cooperation spanning multiple sectors, including education, infrastructure development, and capacity building.
Yogeshwar Sangwan (IFS: 1994), currently serving as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Paraguay, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
Sangwan, a seasoned diplomat with decades of experience, has played a key role in fostering diplomatic ties between India and Paraguay.
His new assignment in Laos is expected to further strengthen India’s strategic and bilateral relations with the Southeast Asian nation.

According to the official announcement from the Ministry of External Affairs, Sangwan is set to take up his new responsibilities shortly. His tenure in Laos will focus on enhancing diplomatic cooperation, trade relations, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
