Hazel Keech backs BCCI’s policy of limiting family time during international tours, citing its positive impact on player focus.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented a rule limiting the number of family members accompanying players on international tours following India’s 3-1 loss to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series. While the policy has sparked debate, with Virat Kohli voicing his displeasure over the restriction, the BCCI remains firm on its decision, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
Hazel Keech Praises the Family-Time Policy for Player Focus
Yuvraj Singh’s wife, Hazel Keech, has come forward to support the policy, explaining that while being away from loved ones is challenging, the rule helps players stay focused on their performance.
She recalled how her husband, Yuvi, used to be concerned about her during his international cricket days, affecting his concentration on the game.
“Allowing families to join for a limited time is beneficial in both ways,” Keech said. Under the new policy, family members are allowed to accompany players based on the duration of the tour—14 days for tours over 45 days, and 7 days for shorter tours.
