The Dasuya police have registered a case against two individuals for allegedly murdering an NRI to usurp ₹2.80 lakh linked to a land transaction. The victim, Balwinder Singh, had recently returned from abroad when he went missing under suspicious circumstances, reported tribuneindia.com.

Surinder Kaur, wife of Balwinder Singh from Bakarpur village in Kapurthala district, informed the police that her husband had transferred ₹2.80 lakh to Ramesh Kumar and Narinderpal, alias Nindi, both residents of Pasi Bet in Dasuya, for a land deal. However, the accused were allegedly avoiding the registration process.

NRI’s body found days after he went missing

On January 21, Balwinder left home on his bike to meet them, but he never returned. When attempts to contact him failed as his phone was switched off, Surinder Kaur filed a missing person report with Bholath police on January 27.

On February 1, Lakhwinder Singh, former sarpanch of Galowal village, informed her about a body discovered in the jungle of Budhuvakart village. She later identified the deceased as her husband.

His body bore multiple injury marks, leading her to allege that he was murdered by the accused to seize the money.
