India and Tanzania strengthen counterterrorism cooperation in Dar-es-Salaam
India and Tanzania held the 2nd meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on Counter Terrorism on February 12-13, 2025, in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
The meeting was co-chaired by K.D. Dewal, Joint Secretary for Counter Terrorism in the Ministry of External Affairs of India, and Dr. Maduhu I. Kazi, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs of Tanzania.
Representatives from various departments and agencies from both nations participated in the discussions.
The two sides reviewed evolving security threats in their respective regions, including state-sponsored and cross-border terrorism. They exchanged views on various aspects of counterterrorism, such as the use of the internet and emerging technologies by terrorist organizations, the global movement of extremists, and radicalization trends.
Both sides agreed to hold the next meeting of the Joint Working Group in New Delhi at a mutually convenient date
Both delegations shared best practices in combating the financing of terrorist activities, transnational organized crime, and narco-terror networks.
They reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing information sharing, capacity building, and continued cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels to counter these threats effectively.
The Indian delegation also visited the Police Forensic Bureau (PFB) of Tanzania and discussed collaborative measures to strengthen forensic capabilities between the two nations.
