Mansa: The district has topped in Punjab with 750 youth from here qualifying for recruitment as Agniveers under the Agnipath scheme, a special report in The Tribune, says.

Making the announcement, Deputy Commissioner Baldeep Kaur congratulated the youth and their families and said they would leave for their training centres on December 20.
She further said this remarkable achievement should inspire other youths from the district as well as the state join the army for the service of the country and stay away from the evil menace of drugs.
She said once training was over, the soldiers would be posted to their respective regiments. After four years of service, 25 per cent of these Agniveers would get a chance to be retained in the Army.
The commissioner said after retirement, the government would provide the Agniveers all necessary benefits and they would be eligible for jobs in civil society.
She further said this remarkable achievement should inspire other youths from the district as well as the state join the army for the service of the country and stay away from the evil menace of drugs.
She also motivated the youths recruited in the Army to move forward with honesty and hard work to brighten the name of the country, state, and district Mansa.
One of the selected youth expressed the hope he would get a chance to continue in the Army after the designated four years of service.
