Indians are going for holidays – like never before – to places like Goa and Srinagar. According to available data of top 10 domestic aviation routes for the month of April 2022 and April 2019 (pre-Covid era), Delhi-Goa and Delhi-Srinagar routes have become the new entrants replacing Ahmedabad-Delhi and Bengaluru-Hyderabad. The popularity of the routes show a surge in leisure travel, reported ETTravelWorld.

The Mumbai-Delhi route continues to hold its position as the most popular air travel route, followed by the Delhi- Bengaluru and the Bengaluru-Mumbai routes.

Domestic aviation numbers continue to rise to pre-Covid numbers. The number of average daily fliers has been around 3.5 lakh passengers in the last few months. In June, the number stood close to 363,000, slightly less than May 2022, when almost 368,000 passengers daily travelled via air — the highest since the Covid-19 pandemic.

That points to the path of recovery by the Indian aviation sector. This, despite rising ATF prices and air fares keeping pace. Reports indicate that Indian fliers remain positive and more people are willing to travel and make up for lost travel opportunities in the last two years.
