Doda/Jammu: Four fresh earthquakes jolted the Jammu region on Wednesday, June 14 and triggered panic among residents, a day after a 5.4 magnitude quake hit Doda district of the Union territory, a report in The Tribune, Chandigarh says.

In Kishtwar, a 3.3 magnitude quake was recorded at 8.29 am, with Its epicentre at a depth of five kilometres, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
Prior to that, tremors of magnitude 3.5 were recorded in Doda at 7.56 am.Two more earthquakes were recorded in the early hours of the day as well.
At 2.20 am, a 4.3 magnitude quake was recorded in the Doda district at a depth of 10 kilometres, as per the data.
The other quake, which had a magnitude of 2.8, occurred 74 kilometres east of Katra in Reasi district at 2.43 am, according to the NCS. Its epicentre lay at a depth of five kilometres.
The four fresh earthquakes hit a day after high-intensity tremors jolted Doda district.
Tuesday’s quake damaged several buildings in the twin mountainous districts of Doda and Kishtwar. Five people, including two schoolchildren, suffered injuries, while schools were shut as a precautionary measure.
The earthquake was widely felt in the Jammu and Kashmir region and neighbouring states.

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake hit Doda in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, June 13, with tremors felt across Delhi and other parts of north India, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake struck at a depth of 6 kilometres, the NCS said.
The earthquake was also felt in parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.

Meanwhile, students of a government school in Doda, which was the epicenter of the quake, were injured when a wall of the structure collapsed on them.
Some roads in the district also witnessed landslides. These are initial reports as the authorities are still analysing the damage.
In Doda’s Bhaderwah town, a few buildings developed cracks due to the tremors.
The false ceiling of a ward of the sub-district hospital collapsed.
Some of the debris fell on patients recuperating in the hospital ward, an official said.
The patients have been moved to safety and are being treated in an emergency ward of the hospital, he said.
The earthquake was also felt in parts of Punjab and Haryana but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.
“The tremors were mild and I felt them while I was sitting on a chair,” said Baldev Chand, a resident of Chandigarh.
