The Indian embassy in the UAE has taken a significant step by inviting bids from potential service providers to establish unified centers catering to passport and attestation services for Indian expatriates.

The objective is to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and speed of the consular services provided in key locations throughout the UAE.

These centers, collectively known as the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC), will streamline various consular services, including visa issuance and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) services.

  • Once a service provider is selected through the bidding process, they will be required to begin operations within two months, with the grand inauguration scheduled for January 1, 2024

  • Interested parties can find detailed information about the outsourcing of consular services on the Indian Embassy’s official website

The ICAC is set to span across all seven emirates of the UAE, encompassing major cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. The establishment of the ICAC aims to create a comprehensive and easily accessible network for Indian expats. An innovative feature introduced by the ICAC is the doorstep passport services, which will revolutionize convenience for applicants in the UAE.

This initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the approximately 3.5 million Indian residents and foreign nationals who frequently require Indian visa services.

The decision to initiate this transformation is a direct response to the evolving needs and demands of the expatriate community. Once a service provider is selected through the bidding process, they will be required to begin operations within two months, with the grand inauguration scheduled for January 1, 2024. Interested parties can find detailed information about the outsourcing of consular services on the Indian Embassy’s official website.

The ICAC centers will be conveniently located in various regions, including:

Umm Al Quwain

Ras Al Khaimah

Fujairah

DUBAI

Deira

Al Qusais

Karama/Oud Metha

ABU DHABI:

The new system promises a streamlined experience for applicants. Online appointment waiting times are estimated to be no more than four days, and the processing of applications is set to be completed within a mere 20 minutes. To ensure the efficiency of the services, penalties will be imposed on service providers in case of any reported delays.

In essence, this strategic initiative taken by the Indian embassy in the UAE seeks to create a seamless and efficient process for Indian expatriates to access essential consular services, thereby addressing their needs in a timely and effective manner.
