Short Premium hospitality, convenient connections and high-end leisure experiences are strengthening Qatar’s appeal among Indians seeking comfort-driven international travel
Qatar is seeking to strengthen its position in India’s premium travel market by combining short-haul connectivity, luxury hospitality and personalised experiences, as affluent Indian travellers increasingly look beyond conventional holiday packages.
The strategy centres on positioning the Gulf country as both a standalone holiday destination and a convenient stopover for travellers connecting to international destinations through Doha.
For Indian visitors, Qatar offers a combination of modern attractions, luxury hotels, shopping, dining and cultural experiences. Its relatively short flying time from major Indian cities also makes it an option for travellers seeking international breaks without committing to long-haul journeys.
The shift reflects a broader change in premium travel preferences, with comfort, convenience, efficient airport services and individualised experiences becoming important considerations alongside accommodation and sightseeing.

Doha’s Hamad International Airport also plays a central role in the country’s appeal. As a major international transit hub, it connects passengers travelling between India and destinations across Europe, Africa and the Americas.
Qatar Airways supports this network through its international operations and premium cabin services. Its business-class Qsuite, available on selected aircraft, offers enclosed seating designed to provide greater privacy. However, the product is not available on every flight, making aircraft selection an important consideration for passengers booking premium tickets.
The country has also been working to strengthen ties with Indian travel companies and tourism partners. In January 2026, Visit Qatar conducted a three-city roadshow in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata, bringing together Qatari tourism businesses and Indian travel professionals to promote the destination. <Link url=”https://travel.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/events/domestic/qatars-trade-roadshow-in-india-boosting-tourism-and-engagement/127238538” title=”Read the report on the roadshow”/>.
For Qatar, India represents an important market for tourism and international air travel. For Indian visitors, the destination’s appeal will depend on the overall cost of a trip, flight availability, visa requirements and the quality of experiences on offer.
