A historic moment is on the horizon as Abu Dhabi gears up for the inauguration of the first-ever Hindu temple in the UAE. Scheduled for February 14, the auspicious event will be graced by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This significant occasion comes just weeks after the Kumbabhishekam ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Situated in the Abu Muraiqah area of the capital, the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi is poised to be not only the largest but also one of the most exquisite Hindu temples outside of India. In fact, it will claim the title of the largest Hindu temple in West Asia.

As the date of the inauguration approaches, anticipation and excitement are building, signifying a momentous step towards fostering religious diversity and cultural understanding in the heart of the Middle East

The inception of this remarkable project traces back to Modi’s maiden visit to the UAE in 2015, during which the UAE government generously allocated land for the construction of the temple. Subsequently, in February 2018, Prime Minister Modi officially launched the ambitious venture. The actual construction commenced in December 2019, marking the beginning of the realization of a long-awaited dream.

The sprawling temple complex spans an impressive 5.4 hectares, and the entire project comes with a price tag of Rs 700 crores. This monumental undertaking not only reflects the growing cultural ties between India and the UAE but also symbolizes a harmonious coexistence of diverse cultures in the region.
