Spanish-Indian model wears red ‘lehenga’ on the streets of London

Chandigarh: A video of a young Spanish-Indian model wearing a red wedding ‘lehenga’ on the streets of London has gone insanely viral on social media, a PTI report iin The Tribune, Chandigarh, says.

Since it was first  shared on February 1, the reel on Instagram has registered  over 27 lakh likes, and more than 44 million views.

The reel, shared by Shraddha, showed her first take a ride on the London tube dressed as a bride in a red embroidered ‘lehenga’. She also wore heavy jewellery.

As she enters the train, all eyes are on her as she looked gorgeous in the dress. Some of the people were also seen clicking pictures of her.

On the streets too, people seemed to be fascinated with her choice of clothes and they kept turning and looking at her.

“Giving y’all anxiety through the screen,” the video caption read.

The video has received mixed reactions from internet users, some of whom appreciated her confidence, while some criticised her for ”attention-seeking behaviour”.

Meanwhile, some loved the fact that she felt comfortable and applauded her for embracing her cultural identity.

One user said, “Gorgeous! Yes to wearing what you like where you like!” Another said, “Her confidence level.”

“In India people will think you are a runaway bride,” wrote another.

“Proud of Indian Culture,” wrote one.

While some were not amused, saying it was “Embarrassing, Who wears a wedding lehnga & goes on the streets or metro stations like that? People don’t even do that in India.”

Another said she was trying to seek attention in the name of “cultural appreciation” to get some likes and followers.

Miss World pageant after three decades

New Delhi: India is set to host the prestigious Miss World pageant from February 18 to March 9.

The launch of the 71st edition of the Miss World Festival witnessed a historic gathering, featuring reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska alongside former titleholders Toni Ann Singh, Vanessa Ponce De Leon, Manushi Chhillar and Stephanie Del Valle.

Miss World pageant, which will be held in India after nearly three decades, will attract participants from 120 countries. Festivities will begin on February 18, with early rounds in Delhi, leading up to the grand finale on March 9 in Mumbai. Miss World Organisation CEO Julia Morley expressed her deep affection for India.
