The Karaoke Forum in Salalah is a sanctuary of melody and camaraderie. It serves as a platform for all kinds of singers especially those who pursue music as a hobby and to those who have passion for singing but lacked platform, training and opportunity to perform in front of an audience.
The Forum truly serves its purpose by giving the singers all possible logistical support and much needed morale boosting form its Convener and fellow members.
Founded in October 2017 under the auspices of the Indian Social Club (ISC), this musical platform has become a nurturing ground for budding singers and a haven for hobbyists seeking the solace of song.
In its latest session on April 13, 2024, the Forum had ‘Jitendra Special’ in which the singers performed songs of the films the actor of 1970s and 80s played roles.
With over 40 dedicated members, the Karaoke Forum isn’t just about singing; it’s about fostering talent, building confidence, and forging connections.
Rakesh Jha, President of Indian Social Club, Salalah praised the noble efforts of the Karaoke Forum and called it a platform for all kinds of singers – experts, budding and those who cherished long to get a platform to sing.
“I have seen many who joined Karaoke Forum as amateur singers and evolved as very good singers due to practice and training under the wise guidance of its convener Ramdas Kamath,” he said.
Ramdas Kamath, the Convener of the Karaoke Forum, shared insights into the journey and purpose of this blossoming community initiative during an exclusive conversation with Pravasi Samwad.
“At the heart of our mission,” Kamath explains, “is the desire to unearth hidden singing talents, to train, guide, and nurture them to sing with technical proficiency and confidence. We envision a cadre of 10 to 15 singers who can captivate audiences at a moment’s notice, be it at ISC events or private functions.”
Central to the Forum’s ethos is the creation of a cohesive singing group. By identifying and honing the right talents, the Karaoke Forum ensures that each performance is a testament to skill and passion. But beyond the pursuit of musical excellence, there’s a deeper resonance to their endeavour.

The Forum’s gatherings, held with thoughtful precision, accommodate a maximum of 20 singers. This deliberate curation ensures that each voice is heard and appreciated, fostering an environment where growth and support thrive.
