Sharp decline in Indian American support for Biden in 2024 election

The decline in support among Indian Americans could have significant implications for the upcoming election

A recent Asian American Voter Survey (AAVS) reveals a significant 19 percent decline in Indian American support for President Joe Biden since the 2020 election. Conducted by APIAVote, AAPI Data, AAJC, and AARP, the survey shows that only 46 percent of Indian Americans plan to vote for Biden in the 2024 election, down from 65 percent in 2020.

The survey, conducted before the June 27 presidential debate, also indicates that 31 percent of Indian Americans now support former President Donald Trump, a slight increase from 2020. Despite this shift, Trump’s favorability among Indian Americans remains relatively unchanged at 30 percent.

The survey highlights the growing significance of Asian American voters, who have seen a 15 percent increase in eligible voters over the past four years. In the 2020 election, this demographic played a crucial role in Biden’s victory in battleground states.
