The Rotary Club of Yangon marked a historic milestone with the installation ceremony of its new president at the Park Royal Hotel. For the first time in 95 years, an Indian national, Ravindra Jain, has been elected as the President of the Rotary Club in Yangon, Myanmar. This momentous event highlights the club’s evolving leadership and commitment to fostering international cooperation and community service.
The ceremony was a significant occasion, attended by over 150 distinguished guests, including key diplomatic figures. Among those present were Amit Shreeansh, First Secretary of the Embassy of India in Myanmar, representing Ambassador Abhay Thakur; Nikolay Listopadov, Ambassador of Russia; Monwar Husain, Ambassador of Bangladesh; Harischandra Ghimare, Nepali Ambassador; Imran Haider, Ambassador of Pakistan; Rene Consolo, Charge d’Affaires of France; and Ms. Susan N. Stevenson, Charge d’Affaires of the United States. The presence of these diplomats underscored the Rotary Club’s role in promoting international goodwill and cooperation in the region.
