PAD London continues to be a global platform for the best in creativity, with Indian designers playing a key role in the event’s eclectic mix
The 16th edition of PAD London will witness the participation of three remarkable Indian studios, showcasing their mastery of traditional craftsmanship blended with contemporary design. The fair, known for presenting the finest in 20th-century and collectible jewellery, will feature 62 galleries, a mix of established names and fresh faces, reportedarchitecturaldigest.in.
Indian designer Dhruv Agarwal’s Bloom, presented by Galerie Maria Wettergren, stands out as a tribute to the traditional wooden craftsmanship of Channapatna toys from Karnataka, India. The chandelier, inspired by the vivid hues and intricate lacquering techniques of this craft, pays homage to the vibrant temple paintings of Rameswaram. The palette was carefully chosen to evoke emotions of nostalgia and joy, bringing together past and present in harmony.
The event will run from October 8 to 13, 2024, at Berkeley Square, London, inviting visitors to explore an exciting array of collectible art and design pieces from around the world
Valery Demure’s Objet d’Emotion will present Studio Renn, known for abstracting concepts such as protection and cyclicity through its jewellery. Their use of unconventional materials and intangible elements—like reflections and volume—redefines perceptions of value, making their pieces both striking and thought-provoking.
Designer Vikram Goyal will debut Mesa, a sculptural brass console created in collaboration with Nilufar, using the repoussé technique. This traditional Indian metalworking process, once used in temple doors and ceilings, is reimagined with organic abstract patterns and modern themes.
