The minister’s promise to streamline this process marks a significant improvement for expatriates, ensuring that their efforts to obtain a driving license during vacation are no longer hindered by scheduling conflicts
In a bid to alleviate the challenges faced by expatriates in obtaining driving licenses during their vacations, Kerala’s Transport Minister, KB Ganesh Kumar, has announced new measures aimed at expediting the process. The initiative follows a petition presented by Rajesh Kodothu, President of the Kasargod District Pravasi Association, during the Onam celebrations in Bahrain.
The petition, which highlighted the struggles of non-resident Indians (NRIs) in securing timely driving test dates, brought attention to the current delays.
This initiative is expected to benefit the large expatriate population from Kerala who often return home for limited periods and face challenges in coordinating their schedules with driving test appointments
Typically, expatriates returning home for short vacations often find themselves in a bind: after applying for a driving test, they are assigned test dates beyond their stay, forcing them to leave without completing the process.
To address this, Minister Ganesh Kumar has committed to implementing a system that will guarantee driving test dates for expatriates within five days of their application.
