The UAE Amnesty 2024 scheme, designed to help foreigners regularize their visa status or exit the country without penalties, is scheduled to conclude on October 31, 2024, with no extension expected, reported ANI.

Launched on September 1, the amnesty provides overstaying expatriates with a unique opportunity to resolve their immigration status. Officials have urged those eligible to act promptly, noting that fines and re-entry bans will not apply to individuals who leave under the amnesty.

  • The Consulate General of India in Dubai has been actively supporting Indian expatriates in navigating the amnesty process

  • Since the scheme’s inception, the Indian Mission has issued 2,275 Emergency Certificates and provided 2,409 Exit Permits and Outpasses to facilitate seamless departures

  • In total, the consulate has assisted 10,951 amnesty seekers, underscoring its dedication to ensuring a smooth transition for Indian nationals

A senior UAE immigration official encouraged those awaiting job offers to consider temporary departure, emphasizing, “If there is no job offer yet, leave for now and return when opportunities arise.” The amnesty applies to all visa types, including tourist and expired residency visas. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has also introduced additional measures to make the process smoother for those seeking to rectify their status or exit the UAE before the deadline.
