Goa Tourism made a lasting impression at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2024, held from November 5–7, by presenting its distinct blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and commitment to sustainable tourism, travelandtourworld.com reported.
Through an engaging pavilion, Goa highlighted its dedication to “Goa Beyond Beaches,” promoting eco-friendly tourism that showcases the state’s spiritual, historical, and adventurous offerings beyond its popular beaches.
Leading the delegation, Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, along with key officials like Shri Sanjeev Ahuja, IAS, Secretary Tourism, and Shri Sandip Jacques, IAS, Secretary (Exposition of St. Francis Xavier), interacted with global tourism leaders to position Goa as a responsible, holistic travel destination. This year, Goa underscored its regenerative tourism initiatives, appealing to travelers and industry stakeholders who prioritize sustainability and meaningful travel experiences.

Under the “Goa Beyond Beaches” initiative, the Goa Tourism Pavilion introduced visitors to diverse experiences, including wellness retreats, adventure activities, and hinterland tours, encouraging them to explore Goa’s rich history and culture while easing pressure on its coastlines. Beyond showcasing its attractions, the Goa delegation forged strategic partnerships at WTM London. They engaged with representatives from prominent pavilions like the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club and the Saudi Pavilion, where discussions with His Excellency Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Saudi Tourism Authority Chairman, explored collaborative opportunities to increase Goa’s global visibility. By nurturing these connections, Goa Tourism aims to diversify its visitor base and tap into new markets, particularly in the Middle East.
Celebrating Goan Diaspora and Cultural Ambassadors
The presence of Goan diaspora members, including opera singer Oscar Castellino, PR Director of GOA UK Chloe De Mendonca, GOA UK President Ravi Vaz, and Chris Fernandes, father of former UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman, added a meaningful layer to Goa’s pavilion. Their participation celebrated Goan heritage and encouraged international Goans to act as cultural ambassadors, promoting the state’s unique heritage and eco-friendly tourism initiatives.
