Seven privately held Indian startups, including space imaging firm KaleidEO, rocket manufacturers EtherealX, and AI-driven company Shyam VNL, have been selected for the first-ever India-US space and defence collaboration programme. This initiative, launched in September 2024, connects Indian startups with US defence agencies and industry leaders, offering access to a $1.5 billion market in advanced defence and dual-use technologies, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

  • Organised by Indian investor Indusbridge Ventures and US-based FedTech, this programme aims to accelerate private-sector partnerships between the two nations in strategic sectors

  • Participants will collaborate with entities such as the US Defense Innovation Unit, the Department of Defense, and major contractors like Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and RTX.

The Indo-US initiative links Indian startups with US defence agencies, unlocking opportunities in the global space and defence sector.

Rahul Devjani, Managing Partner at Indusbridge Ventures, highlighted the initiative’s importance, stating, “We look forward to providing resources, mentorship, and connections to propel these startups into the global defence market.” According to anonymous sources, this collaboration could generate annual revenues between $500 million and $1 billion for the Indian startups.

The programme follows a high-level meeting in New Delhi between Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and his US counterpart Jake Sullivan, focusing on space technology and cooperation between India’s Innovations for Defence Excellence and the US Defense Innovation Unit.
