Marking International Women’s Day, Air India celebrates its 46% female workforce with all-women crew flights, new empowerment initiatives, and special offers for women travelers
Air India Group celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 by highlighting its commitment to gender inclusivity and diversity. With the global theme #AccelerateAction, the airline showcased its efforts to empower women through leadership programs, all-women crew flights, and exclusive discounts for female passengers, reported travelandtourworld.com.
Women Leading the Skies
As part of the celebrations, Air India and Air India Express operated 18 all-women crew flights across major domestic and international routes. These flights were managed by female pilots, cabin crew, and supported by women in essential ground roles such as flight dispatch, meteorology, and operations control.
Key destinations covered included Melbourne (Australia), London Heathrow (United Kingdom), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), Muscat (Oman), Ras Al Khaimah (UAE), Abu Dhabi (UAE), and multiple cities in India. Among these, Melbourne marked the longest route operated by an all-women team.
Women’s Impact in Air India’s Workforce
Women make up 46% of Air India’s workforce, including 16% of pilots—nearly three times the global average. Female representation extends to key departments like ground services (21%), finance (27%), and digital technology (22%).

Similarly, Air India Express maintains 13% female pilots and a workforce where women account for nearly half of all employees
#HerMatters Initiative: Supporting Women’s Growth
To empower its female workforce, Air India launched the #HerMatters initiative, providing support during critical life events. The program offers webinars and panel discussions on topics like financial independence, maternity return, and leadership development.
Inspiring future generations, Air India employees will visit girls’ schools in Delhi’s NCR region to promote aviation careers and share their professional experiences.
Special Offers for Women Travelers
From March 1-8, 2025, Air India offered special fare discounts on bookings with at least one female passenger and a 5% discount on gift card purchases, encouraging more women to explore the world.

Through its leadership initiatives, inspiring outreach, and special offers, Air India Group is setting a new standard for gender inclusivity in aviation.
