Indian Government secures the release and repatriation of 283 citizens involved in fraudulent activities in Myanmar and Thailand

The Government of India has successfully repatriated 283 Indian nationals who had been lured to Southeast Asian countries, including Myanmar, with false job offers.

These individuals were forced into cybercrime and other fraudulent activities in scam centres along the Myanmar-Thailand border.

India’s Coordination with Local Authorities Ensures Safe Return

Indian embassies in Myanmar and Thailand worked closely with local authorities to facilitate the repatriation of the 283 nationals.

Government Urges Vigilance Against Fraudulent Job Offers

The Indian Government has reiterated its warnings about such illegal rackets, urging citizens to be cautious when considering overseas job opportunities. Previous advisories and social media alerts have stressed the importance of verifying employer credentials through official Indian missions abroad and investigating the background of recruiting agents and companies before accepting any job offers.
