Dr Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, was “very frustrated” over the US “going in the wrong direction” while handling the Covid-19 pandemic.

He expressed the situation critical as a large population in the US was still unvaccinated, and the Delta variant was spreading.

About the use of a mask by the vaccinated he said, it was “under active consideration” that the vaccinated also put up the masks.

About talks on booster doses, he hinted not all but those with suppressed immune system may have to go for booster doses.

“Booster shots may be suggested for people with suppressed immune systems who have been vaccinated,” Dr Fauci said.

Dr Fauci, who is also serving as Chief Medical Adviser of Joe Biden, said he was part of the meeting on changing the mask guidelines and booster shots.

In an interview with a media channel, Dr Fauci said, “Individuals in some jurisdictions where the cases are on the rise should wear masks in public regardless of their vaccination status.”

There has been a rise in cases in Los Angeles County.
