Caspar Veldkamp, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, concluded his first official visit to India from March 31 to April 1, 2025, marking a significant moment in the flourishing partnership between the two nations.
Strategic talks aim to boost cooperation in key sectors and new-age technologies
On March 31, Foreign Minister Veldkamp held delegation-level discussions with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, where both leaders reviewed the dynamic and expanding India-Netherlands bilateral cooperation. They highlighted key areas of engagement such as political dialogue, trade and investments, defense and security, innovation, culture, and robust people-to-people connections.
The ministers emphasized the enormous potential for collaboration in semiconductors, digital technologies, renewable energy, green hydrogen, education, and the mobility of youth and skilled professionals
They also reaffirmed ongoing efforts in traditional sectors of cooperation like water management, agriculture, and health. Regional and global developments of mutual interest were also discussed in depth.
During his visit, Minister Veldkamp also met with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, further expanding the diplomatic engagements.
India and the Netherlands share a trusted and strategic partnership, especially in the Water sector, and continue to build strong, mutually beneficial ties. This visit is expected to bring renewed momentum to bilateral relations, opening up opportunities in emerging and future-facing sectors.
