MEA warns citizens against fake job offers and criminal gangs in Iran
The Ministry of External Affairs has issued an advisory following a series of troubling incidents involving Indian nationals in Iran. Several citizens were reportedly lured with false promises of employment or assurances of onward travel to third countries for work. Once in Iran, they were kidnapped by criminal gangs, with ransoms demanded from their families for release.
Indians cautioned against fraudulent job offers and misuse of visa-free entry
The advisory urges Indian citizens to exercise extreme caution when considering such employment offers. It clarifies that Iran allows visa-free entry to Indians strictly for tourism purposes.
Any agents offering visa-free entry for jobs or other reasons may be working in collusion with criminal gangs. The government has strongly advised Indian nationals not to fall prey to such deceptive offers to ensure their safety.
