Senior diplomat and current High Commissioner to Malta to take charge in Oslo soon
The Ministry of External Affairs on Monday announced that Gloria Gangte, currently serving as India’s High Commissioner to Malta, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Norway.
She is expected to assume her new role in Oslo shortly.
A seasoned diplomat with over two decades of service, Gangte has held several important assignments in India’s diplomatic missions abroad and at headquarters. Her new posting to Norway highlights India’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with the Nordic nation across political, economic, and cultural spheres.
In her current role in Malta, Gangte has been instrumental in enhancing India’s diplomatic outreach and strengthening partnerships with the island nation. Her appointment to Norway comes at a time when India and Norway are working to expand cooperation in areas such as green energy, climate action, maritime technologies, and education.
With this new assignment, Gangte is expected to build on the existing momentum in India-Norway relations and further boost strategic, economic, and people-to-people ties.
