The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce has taken a significant step towards strengthening international academic collaboration by signing memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with three leading state universities in Uttar Pradesh. The agreements were formalised on January 5 at the Raj Bhavan in Lucknow with Lucknow University, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), and Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University.

The MoUs aim to promote wide-ranging cooperation in the field of higher education, including student and faculty exchange programmes, joint research initiatives, and the sharing of academic courses and expertise.

According to an official statement from the Uttar Pradesh Raj Bhavan, the partnerships are expected to create new opportunities for academic mobility and cross-cultural learning between India and Canada

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, who also serves as the chancellor of the three state universities, highlighted the state’s progress in education and healthcare in recent years. She noted that sustained reforms and policy initiatives have led to visible improvements and that the current focus is on elevating these sectors to global standards of excellence.

The governor also lauded the universities for updating their syllabi and introducing new, industry-relevant courses aligned with the benchmarks set by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). These efforts, she said, reflect a broader qualitative transformation taking place within Uttar Pradesh’s higher education ecosystem.

Naresh Kumar Chavda, Trustee of the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce, underlined the growing international interest in Indian languages and cultural studies. He said that students from Canada are increasingly keen to travel to India to study Indian languages, literature, and related disciplines, and the newly signed MoUs would facilitate such academic exchanges.

Dr JP Pandey, Vice-Chancellor of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, described the agreements as a positive and forward-looking development. He expressed confidence that the collaborations would enhance research output, improve academic exposure for students and faculty, and strengthen institutional ties between India and Canada.
