The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has announced the results of the 3rd International Punjabi Language Olympiad, marking a strong global response and growing interest in the Punjabi language among students worldwide. This year’s Olympiad witnessed a record-breaking participation, underlining the increasing efforts to preserve and promote Punjabi as a mother tongue, both in India and abroad.
PSEB Chairman Amarpal Singh said that more than 2.25 lakh students registered for the competition, making it one of the largest language-based academic initiatives organised by the Board. The Olympiad aimed to encourage young learners to read, write and understand Punjabi, while strengthening cultural links with the global Punjabi community.

Niamat Kaur Brar of Punjabi School, Oslo, Norway, secured the first position in the international category, earning top honours for her exceptional performance
Other notable achievers included Simrit Kaur from SGGR Gurmat School in Nairobi, Kenya, and Parmeet Singh Gurm from Punjabi School, Oslo. Both students emerged as toppers in the global rankings, reflecting the high academic standards maintained by Punjabi institutions outside India.
As announced by the Board, students securing the first position in each category will receive a cash prize of ₹11,000. Those ranked from second to tenth will be awarded prizes of ₹7,100 and ₹5,100, depending on their positions. These incentives are meant to motivate students to continue learning and excelling in the Punjabi language.
