The Armenian Foreign Ministry will review the scheme in June 2026 to decide whether to extend or expand it

If successful, the country may introduce further measures to attract Indian investment in sectors such as information technology, pharmaceuticals and film production
Armenia has introduced a new visa-free entry scheme for Indian expatriates who hold valid residence permits in the Gulf, the United States, or European Union countries. The move aims to strengthen tourism, business ties and people-to-people exchanges with India, one of the world’s fastest-growing outbound travel markets.
The pilot programme began on 1 January 2026 and will run until 1 July 2026. Under the scheme, eligible Indian passport holders can visit Armenia multiple times and stay for a total of up to 180 days within a 12-month period. Armenian officials say the initiative is designed to attract Indian professionals working in the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the US and major European cities, many of whom travel frequently for work and leisure.
Unlike Armenia’s existing e-visa system, the new policy removes the need for advance applications. Travellers simply need an Indian passport valid for at least six months beyond their planned departure date and proof of a qualifying residence permit. On arrival, border officials will stamp the passport with the authorised length of stay.
The policy is expected to benefit Indian companies with regional offices in Dubai, London and other global hubs, as it simplifies travel for executives visiting Armenia for meetings, investments or project work. However, travellers planning extended stays should be aware that longer visits could trigger local tax or social security obligations under Armenian law.
