The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi has announced a major change to its consular services in the UAE, ending a 15-year partnership with BLS International. From 1 July 2026, services will instead be handled by Alhind Tours & Travels.

Under the new arrangement, Indian nationals will need to submit passport renewals, visa applications and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) requests through Alhind’s centres in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. The shift will affect around 4.3 million Indians living in the UAE, the country’s largest expatriate group.

  • While fees are expected to remain broadly similar, there may be temporary delays as Alhind sets up operations, trains staff and transfers biometric systems

  • Industry insiders warn of possible queues during the early stages of the transition

For businesses and individuals managing multiple applications, digital platforms such as VisaHQ may help simplify the process. These services allow users to prepare documents, book appointments at Alhind centres and track applications in real time, which could be particularly useful for companies handling large volumes of staff renewals.

Employers are advised to update their internal systems, including booking links and payment methods, before the July deadline. Submitting applications through the wrong provider after the switch could lead to delays, rejected requests or even fines linked to visa overstays.

The decision follows action by India’s Ministry of External Affairs to bar BLS International from bidding for new contracts until 2027, after concerns about service quality and compliance in other regions.
