Indian expatriate interior designer Shafid Ebrahim, who helped shape numerous commercial and retail spaces across the UAE, is being remembered for his professional achievements and personal warmth after he was killed in a road accident in Kerala reported gulfnews.com.

The 40-year-old Sharjah resident died alongside his wife, Shahina Shafid, 32, and her cousin, Jahana Sherin, 26, in a crash in Malappuram district during the early hours of Friday. The tragedy has shocked family members, colleagues and friends both in India and the UAE.

Shafid’s six-year-old daughter, Sanfa Fatima, survived the accident after changing to another vehicle during a brief stop shortly before the crash, according to earlier reports.

  • Having moved to the UAE at the age of 27, Shafid built a successful career in interior design over the past 13 years

  • He worked with a Dubai-based interior design company owned by businessman and Malayalam film producer Thomas Thiruvalla, specialising in 3D modelling and interior design projects

Colleagues say his work quietly influenced the daily lives of thousands of people across the Gulf. His portfolio included the design of branches for an international sportswear retailer across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, several branches of major UAE banks, outlets for a leading jewellery retailer, locations of a global coffee chain, and a restaurant in Dubai Mall.

Thomas Thiruvalla described Shafid as a dedicated professional whose designs contributed to numerous high-profile corporate projects throughout the UAE. He also noted that Shafid had designed the company’s office several years ago and was always willing to support community initiatives.

Beyond his commercial work, Shafid contributed to church and community activities, creating logos and visual designs for student programmes and events.

Friends and relatives say he was also looking forward to completing his dream family home in Kerala’s growing “Dubai Road” area. That project now stands as a poignant reminder of a life and career cut short, but one that left a lasting mark on both the UAE’s built environment and the people who knew him.
