Transport Service Linking Delhi Airport with Jalandhar and Ludhiana: Five luxury coaches added to improve airport connectivity for international travellers, NRIs and daily commuters
Punjab has introduced five new luxury Volvo buses connecting Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi with the cities of Jalandhar and Ludhiana, in a move aimed at improving travel options for international passengers, non-resident Indians (NRIs) and regular commuters.
Punjab Finance and Transport Minister Harpal Singh Cheema flagged off the new ‘Super Integral Volvo’ coach buses operated by the state-owned Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (Punbus) on Tuesday. The service is designed to provide safe, comfortable and affordable transport while strengthening the state’s public transport network.
Speaking at the launch event, Cheema said the initiative would benefit both international travellers and local passengers by offering a reliable alternative to private transport services. He added that the government’s efforts were also intended to curb the influence of unauthorised transport operators.

Transport Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, remains focused on expanding and modernising public transport facilities across the state

According to Cheema, improving connectivity between Punjab and Delhi Airport is a key priority, given the large number of residents and NRIs who regularly travel through the national capital’s main aviation hub
Cheema recalled that the airport bus service was first launched on June 15, 2022, from the Jalandhar bus stand by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Since then, the service has been positioned as a convenient transport link for passengers travelling to and from Punjab.
The minister also announced plans to further expand the Punbus fleet. He said the transport department is adding a total of 15 new ‘Super Integral Coach’ buses to enhance services and meet growing passenger demand.
The latest addition of luxury coaches is expected to improve long-distance travel comfort and strengthen public transport connectivity between Punjab and one of India’s busiest international gateways.
