Police say the victim’s son was also injured in the shooting as investigators probe the fatal domestic incident
Indian-origin technology executive Sheetal Wrzesien, a former Google leader, was shot dead at her home in the US state of Georgia, with police arresting her husband on multiple felony charges in connection with the incident.
According to the Cobb County Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire at the family’s residence in Smyrna, near Atlanta, shortly before 8 pm on July 7. On reaching the house, they found 57-year-old Wrzesien with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 23-year-old son, Jason Wrzesien, was also found injured and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police arrested Wrzesien’s husband, 56-year-old Kirk B. Wrzesien, at the residence. He has been charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two firearm-related offences. Authorities said he is being held without bond while the investigation continues. Detectives believe the shooting followed a domestic dispute, although the exact circumstances and motive remain under investigation.
