Swiss wealth manager Julius Baer has appointed Prashant Ajitsaria as Group Head for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Clients in Switzerland, strengthening its focus on serving wealthy Indian clients living and investing overseas.

Ajitsaria, who is based in Zurich, succeeds Gideon Dessauer and will lead the bank’s team of bankers serving NRI clients in Switzerland. He will also support the further development of Julius Baer’s global NRI business across key markets, including the United Arab Emirates, the UK and Africa.

Ajitsaria joined Julius Baer in 2017 and most recently served as Deputy Group Head for NRI Clients in Switzerland and as a relationship manager. He brings more than 25 years of private banking experience, including extensive work advising Indian clients based outside the country.

  • The appointment comes as Julius Baer continues to expand its focus on the global Indian wealth market

  • Earlier this year, the bank appointed Kunal Sumaya as interim Country Head for India following Umang Papneja’s decision to leave the firm

  • Sumaya retained his role as Head of Global NRI Coverage, overseeing the bank’s Indian client base across India, the Middle East, Asia, Switzerland and the UK

Julius Baer reported record assets under management of CHF 528 billion in the first four months of 2026, supported by market gains and CHF 3 billion in net new money inflows.

The latest appointment further strengthens the Zurich-based team responsible for the bank’s NRI franchise and reflects its continued emphasis on the international Indian client segment.
