India Embassy in Kuwait marks 11th Ayurveda Day with focus on holistic health

More than 200 practitioners, wellness experts and members of the Indian community attend programme featuring expert sessions, exhibitions and cultural performances

The Embassy of India in Kuwait organised the 11th Ayurveda Day on September 23, bringing together more than 200 Ayurveda practitioners, wellness experts, representatives of Ayurveda-related organisations and members of the Indian community.

The programme at the Embassy premises featured expert presentations, an exhibition on Ayurveda and healthy living, and cultural performances highlighting traditional Indian approaches to health and wellbeing.

The event began with a video message from Baidya Kotecha, Secretary of India’s Ministry of Ayush. Ambassador of India to Kuwait Paramita Tripathi addressed the gathering and spoke about Ayurveda’s place in India’s traditional knowledge and healthcare heritage, as well as its growing recognition internationally.

  • The expert sessions examined the relevance of Ayurveda to contemporary health and lifestyle concerns

  • Dr C Ashwin Chandra spoke on stress management and better sleep, while Dr Gauri Bhagwat discussed Ayurveda’s role in preventive healthcare and the prevention and management of lifestyle-related health concerns. Roopesh Ravi also made a presentation on Ayurveda and holistic wellbeing

The programme also included a Kalari-Yoga performance by KMS Kalari and Ayur Yoga, showcasing elements of Kalaripayattu and yoga, with an emphasis on physical discipline, balance and wellbeing.

An exhibition featuring Ayurveda-related organisations in Kuwait gave visitors an opportunity to learn about Ayurvedic products, wellness practices and healthy preparations. Healthy food stalls were also part of the wider programme, according to community reports.

The celebration comes as Ayurveda and other traditional wellness practices continue to receive attention internationally. The Kuwait programme also provided a platform for interaction between practitioners and the Indian community, while showcasing aspects of India’s traditional health and wellness knowledge.
