Finance Minister to represent India at the 11th AIIB meeting in Doha and hold talks with global and Qatari counterparts
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has reached Doha for a three-day official visit to Qatar, where she will participate in the 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
Sitharaman arrived in Doha on Monday and was received by India’s Ambassador to Qatar, Srikar Reddy Koppula, at Hamad International Airport. She is leading a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Finance.
The AIIB annual meeting is being held in Doha on September 28 and 29 under the theme “Tomorrow’s Infrastructure: Impact and Innovation”. The meeting brings together finance ministers, policymakers, business leaders and representatives of member countries to discuss infrastructure investment, development financing and the bank’s priorities for its next phase.

During her Qatar visit, the Finance Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with AIIB President Zou Jiayi and finance counterparts from Jordan, Switzerland, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Nepal. She is also expected to meet Qatar’s leadership and engage with Qatari business leaders and investors.
The AIIB meeting comes as the multilateral lender enters its second decade, with a focus on expanding financing for sustainable, technology-enabled and better-connected infrastructure across Asia and beyond.
Sitharaman’s visit is scheduled to continue until September 29, with infrastructure financing, investment and economic cooperation forming key areas of engagement.
