Boarding passes will show vax status

The Indian government is working on providing an application programming interface (API) for vaccination status at the time of web check-in with a mobile number

Your Covid vaccination status will soon be seen on your boarding pass — making your travel smooth. The government is working on providing an application programming interface (API) for vaccination status at the time of web check-in with a mobile number. It is also exploring possibilities of having the vaccination status printed on all boarding passes — including the ones issued on spot.

“We are working with the Ministry of Civil Aviation for providing APIs for vaccination status at the time of web check in through mobile number. It will perhaps also be possible to print the vaccination information on the boarding pass itself,” an official was quoted saying to the ToI. When it does happen, it will help travellers, especially those flying abroad with many countries raising issues with certification.

It will also help authorities and countries to verify status internally, removing any scope of manipulation.

While India has reached an agreement with many countries for mutual recognition of vaccination certificates, the status if printed on boarding pass will make procedures easier, smoother and faster. It will also help authorities and countries to verify status internally, removing any scope of manipulation.
