Air India Express has restarted its commercial services between Trichy and Kuwait from Trichy on May 3. For the time being, the flight is a weekly one but Tamils working in Kuwait have appealed to the airline to increase the frequency. Reports indicate that an additional flight will be operated on Saturdays from June 2022.
Air India Express had begun two services in 1999 in the Trichy-Kuwait sector that continued till October 2007. It is only after 15 long years that Air India Express has restored the scheduled commercial flight service on Tuesdays.

A B Khaleel Ahmed Baaqavee, General Secretary of Kuwait Tamil Islamic Committee (K-Tic), has appealed to the Air India Express to start additional services to tap in to the huge potential. “This service is helpful for the Tamils working and residing in Kuwait. The airlines should consider our appeal to operate additional flights to benefit more people,” said Khaleel, reported ToI.
