The AP Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) has taken a significant step by launching a 24/7 helpline aimed at assisting Non-Resident Telugus (NRTs) facing challenges in the turbulent nation of Niger, according to a report from The Hindu.

In an official statement, APNRTS announced the availability of dedicated helpline numbers +91-8500027678 and 0863-2340678, which NRTs and their families can reach out to for much-needed support and guidance.

Adding to this, APNRTS highlighted the issuance of an advisory by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) urging Indian nationals currently in Niger to swiftly depart the nation due to the ongoing unrest. Considering the temporary closure of Niger’s airspace as a result of the prevailing instability, the advisory stressed the importance of exercising utmost caution when departing via land borders.

In this challenging time, the APNRTS’s initiative stands as a beacon of support for Telugu individuals, striving to bridge the gap and offer much-needed assistance to those impacted by the circumstances in Niger

Furthermore, the MEA recommended prospective Indian travelers to Niger to reconsider their plans until the situation stabilizes and normalizes.

The MEA’s records indicate an approximate count of 250 Indians presently residing in Niger. To ensure their safety and facilitate their departure via land borders, the Indian Embassy in Niamey has been actively engaged in providing logistical assistance. In anticipation of potential emergencies, the embassy has urged all Indian nationals to register themselves by contacting the helpline number +22799759975.
