Anurag Bhushan, a senior Indian Foreign Service officer from the 1995 batch, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Sweden. Currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, Bhushan brings extensive diplomatic experience to his new role.
The appointment marks a strategic move as India continues to strengthen its engagement with Nordic countries
According to an official announcement from the Ministry of External Affairs, Bhushan is expected to assume his responsibilities in Stockholm shortly. His appointment comes at a time when India and Sweden are deepening cooperation in areas such as innovation, sustainability, green technology, and multilateral dialogue.
India and Sweden share robust bilateral ties rooted in shared democratic values and a mutual commitment to a rules-based global order. The new ambassador’s leadership is expected to further expand these relations, especially in trade, technology, and climate partnerships.
